Original Garden Ridge Flagship Stores
Project Overview
The original Garden Ridge flagship store buildings, located in Schertz, Texas, are two massive warehouse properties with significant historical importance to the company’s growth. Restoration General Contractors was engaged by Garden Ridge founder Eric White to evaluate the properties after concerns arose regarding potential storm-related damage.
Our investigation revealed extensive hail damage to the large commercial roofing systems, rooftop HVAC equipment, and related building components across both properties.
The Challenge
The claim was complicated by far more than the size and extent of the physical damage. The properties had previously been sold as part of the acquisition of Garden Ridge by the At Home Company, creating numerous questions involving ownership, insurance coverage, insurable interests, claim rights, and responsibility for the damaged building systems.
These overlapping legal, insurance, engineering, and transactional issues created significant obstacles to establishing the full scope and value of the loss.
Our Solution & Impact
Our team developed and coordinated a comprehensive recovery strategy utilizing every available resource, including legal counsel, forensic engineering, detailed damage analysis, construction expertise, and professional public adjusting.
Through this collaborative approach, we were able to document the extensive hail damage, resolve the complicated ownership and coverage issues, and present a fully supported claim for the damaged roofing and HVAC systems.
The result was the successful recovery of approximately $4.2 million for Mr. White. This project demonstrates Restoration GC’s ability to navigate highly complex commercial property losses by combining legal, engineering, insurance, and construction expertise into a unified strategy designed to maximize recovery.
